Adobe Schema eBook
Licensing Agreements
Please be sure that you have read and accept all of the terms and restrictions below before purchasing our Schema Inventories and Materials online. When you're ready to place an order, please click here.
Introduction
The licensing agreement (EULA) for each Schema eBook product that you purchase itemizes both our obligations to you, and specific terms and security restrictions that you agree to follow. These security measures serve two purposes: (1) to ensure that we abide by the offical United States rules and regulations for the distribution of secure psychometric instruments in psychology, to the extent possible for an Institute of our size; and (2) to provide copyright protection for the authors, as outlined in the official regulations approved by a joint committee of the major educational and mental health organizations in the United States.
Sample Licensing Agreements
Below are two samples of the licensing agreement that all customers must accept before they can place an order for our Adobe eBooks. We recommend that you read them carefully to be sure you are comfortable with our terms. Most of the terms are the same for all eBooks, but some conditions are specific to the eBook product you purchase.
License for the
Adobe eBook for 6 / Print from 2 :
I understand and accept the following warnings and conditions of purchase:
WARNING: Do NOT click on your Personal eBook File Link until you have FIRST INSTALLED AND AUTHORIZED ADOBE DIGITAL EDITIONS (ADE) on your computer.
If I click on my Personal eBook File Link before authorizing ADE, my eBook will NOT open -- and I WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW ADOBE EBOOK.
I also understand that I must install ADE -- then click on one of my 2 Personal File Links -- on each of the 2 computers that I want to print from first -- before I install either eBook File Link on any tablet or other device.
1. I am purchasing a 1-year license to view and print Schema Therapy inventories and materials in a premium Adobe eBook format for my own personal or professional use. I can share my license with one colleague, if I choose. This license authorizes me to install the Schema eBook on SIX compatible Windows or Mac computers, iPads, Android tablets, and other compatible devices. I am only authorized to PRINT on TWO Windows or Mac computers, using the free "Adobe Digital Editions" eBook Reader (versions 2, 3, or 4.5.1). I understand that my eBook will be in ENGLISH ONLY!
2. I have carefully read all of the materials distributed to me by the Schema Therapy Institute, and agree to all of the terms, security restrictions, refund policies, and other information provided. These include several limitations, such as: only printing the eBook from the first two computers I install it on; printing a maximum of 450 TOTAL pages from the eBook on EACH of the 2 computers (a total of 900 pages combined).
3. I understand that the Institute will only provide technical support and assistance for the installation, viewing, and printing of the Schema eBook using the "Adobe Digital Editions" eReader (ADE), on compatible Windows or Mac computers.
Customers are permitted to install the Schema eBook using any other compatible apps, tablets, and eReaders. But the Institute cannot offer technical support for tablets or other apps; nor can the Institute guarantee that the eBook will function properly on specific apps or devices that you have, other than those using ADE. Schema eBooks are NOT compatible with standard Kindle eReaders, Kindle apps, or the Apple iBooks app. However, our eBooks can be installed on most iPad models and Android tablets, by using apps from Adobe or other publishers.
4. I understand that, when I print pages from eBook Readers like Adobe Digital Editions, the printed version may not be identical to what I view on the screen. (For example, the margins or font sizes might be somewhat smaller or larger.) The Institute cannot take responsibility if I encounter problems like this, since these issues do not result from incorrect formatting of the eBook itself. I understand that the model of computer I use, the operating system, the eBook app, and the printer model may all, to some degree, affect how the inventories and forms look when they are printed.
5. The Institute cannot provide a replacement eBook file link to me, if I try unsuccessfully to install the file link on any devices or apps other than a compatible Windows or Mac computer, using the ADE eReader.
6. I will NOT attempt to open my eBook file link by clicking on it, without first reading and following all of the installation instructions available on the Institute website, in the exact order they are listed. I understand that my computers and tablets will not be able to add the Schema eBook until I have first downloaded and installed the free "Adobe Digital Editions" eReader, and have registered online for a free Adobe ID. I must use the same Adobe ID on up to 5 computers and tablets with my FIRST Personal File Link. I can use a different ID (or the same ID) when I install the eBook on ONE Windows or Mac computer, using my SECOND file link.
7. I understand that I must be online with an internet connection for the initial authorization of the Adobe eBook Reader (or any other eBook apps) on each computer or tablet; and each time I install a new eBook on one of my eReader apps.
8. If I plan to authorize or download the Schema eBook in an institutional setting, like a hospital or university, or on an institutional computer, I agree to consult first with the Internet Support or IT Department to be sure that the required internet connection and authorization process will not be blocked by institutional security firewalls or other safeguards. The Institute cannot be responsible for any difficulties resulting from internet restrictions, firewalls, etc. Upon request, the Institute will supply me with an eBook Compatibility Test at no cost before I place my order -- to be sure that my institution's network does not block the downloading or authorization of the Schema eBook.
9. I understand that the Institute highly recommends that someone with at least intermediate-level computer skills install the ADE eBook Reader, and the Schema eBook itself, on my Windows or Mac computers.
10. I understand that I will NOT qualify for a refund on the basis that I do not myself have the time or ability to install the eBook I am purchasing; nor can I obtain a refund because I do not find the contents of the eBook helpful to me.
11. If I cannot read or print the inventories after installing a Schema eBook, I understand that I can only obtain a full or partial refund by agreeing to complete the following steps first:
a. To answer by email all Diagnostic Questions that you request; and,
b. To follow all troubleshooting steps you provide me to resolve any technical problems I have.
12. The eBook documents I download are intended for use by qualified professionals. I accept full responsibility for keeping the schema inventories and forms under my personal control, and will only use the documents for my own research, writing, clinical work, training, personal growth, or related activities. The same terms apply to the colleague I share this license with (if any).
13. Now and in the future, I agree NOT to provide schema inventories, materials, or files in a form that will permit others to make copies for their own use or for distribution to others -- including other professionals or students (with the exception of one colleague, if I decide to share my license).
14. I understand that, for security purchases, many of the pages in my Schema eBook will contain an extremely small watermark with an encrypted version of my personal eBook ID number. Only the Institute Director will have access to my name and eBook ID, in case printed copies of the inventories are distributed in violation of the terms of this binding agreement.
15. This agreement expressly forbids me from engaging in any of the following actions for any Schema eBook: placing the contents of inventories on the internet in any way, such as web versions or using survey software; modifying the inventories, including the use of shortened versions, or a subset of items; translating any forms or inventories; or reproducing any materials (in whole or in part) in books, publications, or other media, without the express written permission of the Institute.
END OF FIRST LICENSING AGREEMENT
Licensing Agreement for the
"eBook for 1 Windows or Mac Computer":
I understand and accept the following warnings and conditions of purchase:
WARNING: Do NOT click on your Personal eBook File Link until you have FIRST INSTALLED AND AUTHORIZED ADOBE DIGITAL EDITIONS (ADE) on your computer.
If I click on my Personal eBook File Link before authorizing ADE, my eBook will NOT open -- and I WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW ADOBE EBOOK.
1. I am purchasing a 1-year license to view and print Schema Therapy inventories and materials from the Adobe Schema eBook, for my own personal or professional use. I understand that my eBook will be in ENGLISH ONLY!
2. I have carefully read all sections of the Institute website that relate to the product I am about to purchase. These webpages include: General Information about Adobe eBooks; the Adobe eBook Order Page, that describes what is included as part of the product I am purchasing; the installation instructions for Adobe eBooks; the licensing agreement; compatibility Information, including the use of the inventories over an institutional network; what the Institute can and cannot provide me in terms of product support; the Table of Contents; and the Institute's Refund Policy. I understand that, by placing an order, I am accepting all of these policies and conditions.
3. a. This license authorizes me to install, view and print the Schema eBook on only one compatible Windows or Mac computer.
b. When I install the eBook on a compatible Windows or Mac computer, I understand that I am only authorized to do so using the free "Adobe Digital Editions" eBook Reader (ADE - version 2, 3, or 4.5.1).
c. I understand that the "Adobe eBook for 1 Mac or Windows Computer" is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANY TABLETS, SMARTPHONES, OTHER DEVICES OR APPS. I must purchase one of the following Adobe eBook products instead, if I plan to install the eBook on iPads, Android tablets, smartphones, or other devices: the Adobe eBook for 2 or for 6.
4. I understand that the Institute recommends that the person who is initially installing the Adobe Schema eBook on my computer(s) or tablet(s) should have at least an Intermediate Level of computer experience. If I am not at that level myself, the Institute suggests that I find a more experienced friend, family member, or colleague to help me with the initial installation. I also understand that I will NOT qualify for a refund on the basis that I do not myself have the time or ability to install the eBook I am purchasing.
5. I understand that, when I print eBook pages from "Adobe Digital Editions", the printed version may not be identical to what I view on the screen. (For example, the margins or font sizes might be somewhat smaller or larger.) The Institute cannot take responsibility if I encounter problems like this, since these issues do not result from incorrect formatting of the eBook itself. I understand that the model of my computer, the version of the operating system installed, the version of ADE, the paper size in my country, and the printer model may all, to some degree, affect how the inventories and forms look when they are printed.
6. I understand that I am only permitted to print a MAXIMUM of 400 TOTAL pages from the Schema eBook on my computer (NOT 400 of each page). I am also allowed to make additional photocopies of the pages I print, if I need them for my own professional use.
7. I understand that the Institute will only provide technical support and assistance for the installation, viewing, and printing of the Schema eBook in the "Adobe Digital Editions" eReader (ADE), on compatible Windows or Mac computers.
8. I will not attempt to open my Personal eBook File Link without first reading and following all of the installation instructions available for my computer on the Institute website, in the exact order they are listed. I understand that my computer will not be able to recognize or open my Schema eBook until I have first downloaded and installed "Adobe Digital Editions". Before I can finish installing ADE, I understand that I must first register online for a free Adobe ID. Once I have installed ADE on my computer; authorized ADE with my Adobe ID; and added the Schema eBook to the ADE library, I will be able to open, read, and print all of the pages in the Schema eBook.
9. The Institute cannot provide a free, replacement eBook file link to me, if I try unsuccessfully to install the eBook file link on any device or app other than a compatible Windows or Mac computer, using the ADE Reader -- OR if I fail to follow the ADE installation instructions on this website exactly as they are written.
10. I understand that I must be online (with an open internet connection) for the initial authorizations of both ADE and the Adobe Schema eBook on my computer. If I plan to download, install, or authorize any eReader or Schema eBook in an institutional setting like a hospital or university, or on an institutional computer, I agree to consult first with the Internet Support or IT Department to be sure that the required internet connection and authorization process will not be blocked by institutional security firewalls or other safeguards. I also understand that I should take the free Adobe eBook Compatibility Test, unless I am absolutely sure that there are no internet or network restrictions at my institution that might block the Schema eBook installation. The Schema Therapy Institute cannot be responsible for any difficulties resulting from internet restrictions, firewalls, etc.
11. I understand that I will NOT qualify for a refund on the basis that I do not myself have the time or ability to install the eBook I am purchasing; nor can I obtain a refund because I do not find the contents of the eBook helpful to me.
13. All eBook documents I download are intended for use by qualified professionals. I accept full responsibility for keeping the schema inventories and forms under my personal control, and will only use the documents for my own research, writing, clinical work, training, personal growth, or related activities.
14. Now and in the future, I agree NOT to provide schema inventories, materials, or files in a form that will permit others to make copies for their own use or for distribution to others -- including other professionals or students. I agree that any copies I distribute to others must either be returned to me (e.g., by patients or research subjects); OR I must mark them in such a way that they cannot be copied anonymously by other people (e.g, I can print or write the name of each student or colleague -- or my own name -- in large, prominent letters on each page so that the name cannot be easily erased or overlooked).
15. I understand that, for security purposes, many of the pages in my Schema eBook will contain an extremely small watermark with an encrypted version of my personal eBook ID number. I understand that I am not permitted to remove or obscure the watermarks in any way from the pages I print or copy. Only the Institute Director will have access to my name and eBook ID, in case printed copies of the inventories are distributed in violation of the terms of this binding agreement.
16. This agreement expressly forbids me from engaging in any of the following actions for any pages in any Schema eBook: placing any of the contents from inventories or other materials on the internet in any form, such as web versions or survey software; modifying the inventories or other materials in any manner, including the use of shortened versions, or using a subset of the items; retyping or reformatting any portion of the inventories or other materials; translating any portion of the inventories or other materials into another language or dialect; or reproducing any inventories or other materials (in whole or in part) in books, publications, or other media, without the express written permission of the Institute.
